"As I was walking around the UW campus on a beautiful autumn afternoon I was struck by the light hitting the top of this clock tower on Music Hall; as well as the Humanities Building behind it. This Victorian Gothic building was built in 1878 and was initially named Assembly Hall. To me, this looks like it could be an old building or church in a thousand different places around the world-which is part of the reason I really wanted to paint this. Although I did not attend the UW Madison, it's been very interesting to learn about it's history and enjoy it's beauty. The very wide variety of architecture, landscaping and lakes makes it a terrific inspiration. I'm pretty sure I'll be painting parts of it for years to come."
